A No Excuse Zone map is based on a series of test rides mapped within an area that can be easily cycled by a healthy person within a modest amount of time.
With thanks to AECOM the No Excuse Zone concept has now been launched in Westhill and Peterhead with more towns to follow. The concept has previously been used in international cities, such as Berlin, Brisbane and Copenhagen.
The maps are surprisingly far reaching and provocatively suggest that if a person lives within the zone there are several places they could try cycling and enjoy the benefits. The zone is not "anti-car" but instead positively draws attention to the benefits available to those who replace short car journeys with a more active lifestyle.
Try the map out and let us know what you think. Contact us if you would like a printed copy sent to you. Have a look at www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/noexcuse
